Hello!
My name is Makayla Teindl, and I’m currently a Year 2 EKTEP student at the University of Victoria. I live in Jaffray, BC with my boyfriend, Damon and our dog, Piper. Some of my favorite hobbies include fly fishing, hiking, camping, creating, cooking, travelling and spending time with family.
My passion for education and teaching has always been present, but it’s grown much stronger over the past few years. As the oldest of four siblings, I’ve always tried to be a positive role model for them to look up to.
During grade school, I enjoyed peer tutoring at the elementary school, assisting in dance classes, and even started my own after-school dance program for children aged 5 to 12. That experience really opened my eyes to how rewarding teaching could be.
After graduation, I eventually began working as an Education Assistant (EA) to explore the education system more deeply. I loved my time as an EA, but after four years of steady work, I decided it was time to continue my journey as a lifelong learner and pursue my teaching degree.
I’m excited to continue this path in education. This blog is a space for me to broadcast my learning and experiences along the way —feel free to join me!!
